Analysis of Research Trends for Frail Older Adults in Domestic and Abroad

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective : This study aims to provide basic data by analyzing the research trends of domestic and international on frail older adults.
Methods : From 2017 to 2021 years, the literature collected by domestic and foreign academia. The collected literatures were analyzed based on the number of published literatures, researchers, research topics, evaluation, and intervention criteria.
Results : The growth rate of the number of frail older adults publications within the past five years was 78% of total, while Korea showed an increase of 111% nearly double the abroad growth rate of 61%. The ‘Journals of Gerontology Series A Biological Science and Medical Science’ published the most with 164 papers (31.91%). As for the researchers, Vellas and Bruno wrote 19 papers each, performing most activly. As for the evaluation tool, Fried frailty index was most frequently used with 128 times (33.51%), and the number of intervention studies steadily increased over the 5 years.
Conclusion : The results show that research topics are diversifying according to the subdivided concept of frailty. In the future study, latest concept and trend of frailty should be applied. Through this study, basiceline data on domestic frailty research could be provided in the future.
